For the responsible management and further development of our facility in Germany, we are looking for a qualified and innovative leader (m/f/d) to act as

MANAGER PLANT OPERATIONS (M/F/D)

You will lead a team of 300 employees and report directly to the Managing Director of Litens Automotive Germany and the Global Director Plant Operations. Facility Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Manufacturing Engineering and Plant Logistics will report to you.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the plant
  • Maintain and improve the application of the Litens Production System (LPS), our global lean manufacturing system
  • Develop plant operations within the global Litens operations towards world-class manufacturing
  • Identify potentials to apply IOT and develop manufacturing towards a connected factory
  • Promote a Lean culture through education, training and enforcement of Lean methodology and concepts
  • Create a positive continuous improvement culture while maintaining open communication with all team members
  • Lead continuous improvement activities and facilitate implementation of global CI initiatives
  • Lead plant operations towards ongoing certification according to ISO/TS-16949, VDA, and customer-specific standards
  • Ensure the plant meets safety, quality and cost KPIs
  • Manage customer audit preparation and execution
  • Lead the contribution to and compliance with APQP process in all manufacturing-related aspects
  • Establish, manage and maintain efficient and transparent labor resource planning short-, mid- and long-term
  • Establish, manage and maintain efficient and transparent plant capacity planning short-, mid- and long-term
  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations review and confer with technical and administrative staff to resolve production problems
  • Perform audits to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to standards, such as layered process audits, 5S audits and Gemba Walks
  • Analyze production performance data to identify trends and establish corrective action plans to address underperforming programs or equipment
  • Perform benchmark comparison studies with other Litens facilities to achieve consistent productivity standards
  • Maintain daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly performance metrics and communicate with corporate Plant Management team for review
  • Maintain external high-level relations with local suppliers to ensure constructive and productive partnership
  • Work closely with sister plants overseas
  • Work closely with global leadership for plant operations, manufacturing engineering and supply chain management
  • Plan and manage budget and forecasting, and actively participate in developing the company's projected growth short- and long-term
  • Be a member of the local Top Management team and act as a team player in concert with Product Engineering, Materials Control, Quality Assurance and other departments of the company

Profile:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; fluent in English and German self-starter, who can work well both independently and in a team environment
  • University degree in Mechanical/ Industrial Engineering
  • 5 years of experience in a management role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment (preferably in the automotive industry)
  • Experience with automated and cellular manufacturing lines
  • Working knowledge of materials management (ERP and MRP) and high-level production planning methods
  • Intense knowledge of Lean Manufacturing systems
  • Familiar with the requirements of ISO 14001, TS 16949 and VDA quality/environmental standards
  • Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Available for overseas travel for training purposes (3 months) immediately after hiring; occasional subsequent travel to Europe and North America; able to work flexible hours
