New York University Berlin Program Manager, Student Life (m/f/d) New York University (NYU) Berlin seeks a full-time Program Manager, Student Life, for the Academic Center, Prenzlauer Berg. POSITION SUMMARY The Program Manager, Student Life, supervises the effective, high-quality delivery of all aspects of student support programs and ensures that students comply with NYU policies, procedures, and expectations. Further, they are expected to collaborate with diverse local communities in designing inclusive learning opportunities for students. They report to the Site Director and liaise closely with appropriate key staff at NYU. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Student Programming &\; Communications (40%) Co-design orientation and manage orientation activities. Design and manage student programming, including campus events, site visits, and overnight learning journeys. Serve as a chaperone and designate other NYU Berlin staff to chaperone programs. Manage the implementation of special events that are designed in collaboration with NYU Berlin staff, NYU Global Programs staff, NYU Student Affairs departments (e.g., Center for Multicultural Education and Programs (CMEP) and LGBTQ+ Center) and the Office of Global Inclusion (OGI). In collaboration with the site director, develop partnerships with local communities and organizations to connect learning at NYU Berlin with sustainable, positive change in the city. Develop opportunities for students to reflect on their experience of living and studying at NYU Berlin, particularly their cross-cultural awareness arising from their interaction with the local community. Manage communication to students on all matters related to student services and resources. Supervise the development of volunteering and community service opportunities for students. Liaise with the Wasserman Center for Career Development, NYU Leadership Initiatives, The NYU Center for the Humanities, and other units to design, implement, and evaluate professional/career development opportunities for students. Support and mentor Student Leaders in planning, coordinating, and executing programs that enhance student engagement and community development. Serve as the primary liaison for all Inclusion, Diversity, Belonging, Equity, and Accessibility initiatives on site in collaboration with the NYU Office of Global Programs, to develop and implement inclusive policies and programs. Health &\; Wellness (20%) Collaborate with the NYU Berlin Wellness Counsellor, the NYU Health Center, the Wellness Exchange, and the Moses Center for Student Accessibility to ensure students with diverse abilities and needs have appropriate support and access to local health resources. Supervise the support of students who need medical assistance and/or counselling in collaboration with the NYU Berlin Wellness Counsellor. Liaise with NYU Berlin academic support staff in enforcing the absence policy. Collaborate with the NYU Berlin Wellness Counsellor and the NYU Student Health Center in providing education about alcohol and substance use, self- and shared care practices, stress-, time-and conflict management, sexual health, Title IX related incident response, etc. Coordinate with NYU Berlin Wellness Counsellor and conduct training for NYU Berlin staff on how to recognize and support a student in crisis and make appropriate referrals. Liaise with NYU Moses Center regarding accommodations for students with disabilities. Safety, Welfare, and Conduct (20%) Manage and participate in the on-call rotational telephone resource with student life staff and be available to respond in times of crisis. Respond to student and parental questions, requests, and complaints\; disseminate where appropriate. In conjunction with NYU Campus Safety, disseminate travel and safety advisories. Coordinate with local law enforcement and NYU Campus Safety to educate students on crime prevention. Liaise with Site Director to ensure that incidents relevant to Clery Act are documented and reported. Manage disciplinary matters in collaboration with the NYU Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards. Coordinate the judicial process for non-academic student violations. Assist in training of residence life and other NYU Berlin staff in University conduct policy. Other (20%) Oversee the Student Life team, providing leadership in developing programs that enhance student engagement, community, and holistic development. Liaise closely, wherever appropriate, with the NYU Global office and particularly the Assistant Vice President Student Services and Support to ensure the continuous quality improvement of services and compliance with NYU policies and procedures. Coordinate ongoing student evaluation of the non-academic experience and provide opportunities for feedback. Liaise closely with Director of NYU Berlin to coordinate information about on-site student life services and implementation of support to short-term programs. Assist the Site Director in planning the annual student life budget. Manage relationships with local police, health care providers, and other external agencies. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Required Education Successful completion of a Master's degree. Required Experience A minimum of five years relevant experience within student activities, residential education and student life. Evidence of high-quality leadership skills and staff supervision. Experience in designing meaningful, relevant, and accessible programming for diverse student cohorts. Experience in emergency response. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Fluency in German and English. Excellent intercultural and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population within a multicultural environment. Must possess excellent leadership and conflict resolution skills and the ability to quickly and effectively respond to emergency situations. Nights, weekends, and holiday hours may be required. Limited overnight travel is required. Familiarity with macOS, Microsoft Windows, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office. Required Work Permit A valid work permit for Germany. Preferred Experience, Skills and Abilities Genuine interest in getting to know a very diverse set of international students and faculty every semester. Previous experience living, working, or studying abroad.
