Director of Global Programs (f/m/d)
Über uns:
More in Common is a recognised expert in understanding and countering the dynamics of political and social polarisation. Our work draws on social psychology and public opinion research, involves generating new insights, and then helping leaders use those insights for impact. Alongside work that is deeply rooted in national contexts and led by country directors, we also create significant impact through global and multi-country programs. Our cross-country programs generate research insights, translate them into thought leadership, and disseminate and implement them across a wide ecosystem of partners and stakeholders. Recent work has produced fresh insights into public attitudes on immigration, online safety, nature and the energy transition, Ukraine, and democracy. As we look to expand this work further, we are creating a new role to lead it. More in Common is a nonpartisan research nonprofit dedicated to understanding and addressing the dynamics of polarised societies. We work with leaders across many sectors to help them navigate these dynamics more effectively, find common ground and bring people together to address shared challenges. Our teams in seven countries and beyond are working to help societies become more resilient to the increasing threats of polarization and social division. More in Common's work is frequently featured in media and used by leaders in government, nonprofits, philanthropy, education, the arts and business. Rigour and excellence in everything we do Deep curiosity about people, and a commitment to elevating others' views, particularly those whose voices are largely unheard We believe our impact can be greater if our team reflects a broad range of social and cultural backgrounds, beliefs, political persuasions and life experiences. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and are committed to building an inclusive team.
Aufgaben:
  • The Director of Global Programs will lead More in Common's global and multi-country work, developing, coordinating, and advancing initiatives that create value through cross-country collaboration. The role focuses on work that is more effective or fundable led by our global team than when pursued by individual country teams - for example, multi-country research and thought leadership, and external partnerships with international networks or organisations. It entails fundraising, building on More in Common's strong existing relationships. It involves coordination with country directors and identifying where global programs can add to their national strategies.
  • The role also involves representing More in Common at a senior level in conferences, roundtables, and bilateral meetings, including standing in for the CEO.
  • Global program development and delivery: Work with the CEO and country directors to clarify the strategy for More in Common's cross-country programs. Identify, design, and manage the implementation of programs that are more impactful or fundable when pursued across countries. Ensure programs are well-scoped, realistically resourced, and accompanied by clear governance covering roles, decision-making, and workload expectations for participating country teams, in close collaboration with country directors.
  • External representation and global partnerships: Represent More in Common at relevant conferences, roundtables, and senior bilateral meetings - including standing in for the CEO - and develop partnerships with organisations that can expand More in Common's reach, credibility, and funding base.
  • Global fundraising and funder relations: Develop and pursue funding opportunities that require a multi-country or global scope, write proposals, and manage relationships with the funders that support More in Common's cross-country work.
  • Program quality and impact: Oversee the implementation of global programs, track progress against intended outcomes, identify course corrections where needed, and maintain consistent quality standards across More in Common's cross-country work.
  • Knowledge management: Identify lessons and insights from across More in Common's country programs and build systems for country teams to access and apply that knowledge, in collaboration with the Director of People, Culture and Learning.
  • Network participation: Define which global activities carry a network-wide participation expectation and which are optional, ensuring country teams have clarity on their commitments across the program portfolio.
  • Engaging others from a starting point of trust
  • Cultivating a spirit of generosity
  • Valuing diversity of thought, allowing our own beliefs to be challenged and embracing healthy disagreement
  • Embracing a dual role as both sense-makers and change-makers
  • Firmly rooted in each of our national contexts but curious about the world beyond
Qualifikationen:
  • Commitment to More in Common's mission and values.
  • A track record of designing and managing complex projects, ideally opinion research projects, across multiple geographies or institutional contexts.
  • Experience of external representation at a senior level, including engagement with international networks, partnerships, and high-level stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English and at least one of French, German, Spanish, Polish or Portuguese languages.
  • Significant leadership experience within an international or multi-country organisation.
  • Demonstrated success in global fundraising, including developing proposals and managing relationships with major philanthropic or institutional funders.
  • The ability to lead through influence rather than authority, working effectively with peers and country teams who have their own mandates and priorities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to synthesise complex information for diverse audiences.
  • Inter-disciplinary interests and experience, such as having worked in different sectors (business, government, nonprofit), countries and roles.
  • At least six years' working experience in such fields as public opinion research, public policy, political science, and international relations.
  • Driven by the common good, not by ideology or partisanship
  • Embracing learning and innovation. Looking for new paths to make a difference
  • Believing in the power of a good laugh
Wir bieten:
  • Competitive salary related to location, and excellent benefits along with generous leave and family policy
  • Personal learning budget
  • Working in one of our country offices
